| Betel pounder or mortar, used by toothless people for mashing up the ingredients of the quid. An iron spatula with a handle acts as the pestle and a metal or wooden tube as a mortar. Usually, the handle is elaborate, this one is in mahogany and shaped as the head of monkey. The tube is in silver. A lime box in celadon is shown on the left. |
